Trying not to tempt fate, but to all intents and purposes the assignment is DONE! Not possible without a lot of help from someone who I'm sure wouldn't like to appear in this self-indulgent journal. Also got some sense out of MySQL today!
Back from a flying visit to Glasgow. Spent the afternoon running around the city, and the night drinking and listening to "Moonshine Madness" at the 13th Note. Travelled first class on a cheap Virgin Trains ticket, and even managed a bit of work on the dreaded essay on the way back. Straight from work to a heated Labour Party meeting. Lots to do now - including brushing up on MySQL for another TSP Services project.
The first day of spring! Spent it dealing with a sudden influx of asylum seekers and wondering what to do about the by now famous assignment! Ended up deciding not to think about it at all, but to think about Steve's/TSP Services new project, and then rather rashly deciding to uprgade to Apache 1.3.12. That's what passes for fun around here these days.
Spent all day getting myself into knots about my first TMA (tutor marked assignment) of the year. Its not working - not sure if I'm out of practice, or just not up to the job! Frustrated, and about to hit the bottle and give up for the night. Mad week ahead including a nonsense dash to Glasgow and back next weekend!
I've had a home on the web for more years than I care to remember, and a few kind souls persuade me it's worth persisting with keeping it updated. This current incarnation of the site is centred around the blog posts which began back in 1999 as 'the daylog' and continued through my travels and tribulations during the following years.
I don't get out and about nearly as much these days, but I do try to record significant events and trips for posterity. You may also have arrived here by following the trail to my former music blog Songs Heard On Fast Trains. That content is preserved here too.
