Set up an occasionally on web cam. Much tweaking, kernel building and cursing to get this going. Have missed this kind of seat-of-your-pants computing over the last couple of years! Linux was hardly difficult by the time I got involved, but in recent times its been a breeze to get things working! Bad news day, war-wise. It had to happen. Feel pathetic and small in the face of the world.
First essay mark of the year. Pretty good too. Faith and confidence restored. Should probably try to get some reading done then. Have been lazy but distracted by world events. Things seem to be underway, but not entirely running smoothly. Worried for people close (by association).
Weird week. Back at work, and pretty productive since elements which prevent people getting along, doing their jobs etc. are absent. We are still desperately behind. As of tommorrow, everyone I know is somewhere else. Strange. Glued to last ditch diplomacy this week - at home and abroad.
Straight from work to Bath by train. Feeling melancholy, which makes me desperately bad company all night. Manage to make a reasonably happy occasion quite bleak. Sorry.
I've had a home on the web for more years than I care to remember, and a few kind souls persuade me it's worth persisting with keeping it updated. This current incarnation of the site is centred around the blog posts which began back in 1999 as 'the daylog' and continued through my travels and tribulations during the following years.
I don't get out and about nearly as much these days, but I do try to record significant events and trips for posterity. You may also have arrived here by following the trail to my former music blog Songs Heard On Fast Trains. That content is preserved here too.
