Bilbo visits. Wandered around the usual chaos of Weston on a Bank Holiday. A couple of pints, and later a visit to the Bengal Raj. Have neglected the daylog for a long time - busy and rewarding work and too much to read being most of the problem.
Incredible weather. Up later than planned. Read mail, and then went out to take pictures of artwork in order to mail them to India. Long and pleasant chat.
Decided to be off work on Tuesday. Hence had lots to sort before leaving, which led to a rather manic afternoon. Visited, and ate too much pizza. More work on Denzil, attempting to get downloading sorted out with gnome-vfs instead of wget. Sort of works.
Set up an occasionally on web cam. Much tweaking, kernel building and cursing to get this going. Have missed this kind of seat-of-your-pants computing over the last couple of years! Linux was hardly difficult by the time I got involved, but in recent times its been a breeze to get things working! Bad news day, war-wise. It had to happen. Feel pathetic and small in the face of the world.
I've had a home on the web for more years than I care to remember, and a few kind souls persuade me it's worth persisting with keeping it updated. This current incarnation of the site is centred around the blog posts which began back in 1999 as 'the daylog' and continued through my travels and tribulations during the following years.
I don't get out and about nearly as much these days, but I do try to record significant events and trips for posterity. You may also have arrived here by following the trail to my former music blog Songs Heard On Fast Trains. That content is preserved here too.
