Early start - felt sleepy and fuzzy most of morning. Troublesome dreams don't help. Visitors, then wandered to Post Office depot to collect book which had been delivered during the week. Coffee in town, some wandering. Decided to head for Burnham to deliver my father's (late) birthday present. Flying visit only, because I wanted to go back to sleep! Shopped. Slept for a while. Released gnome-pkgview-1.0.1 which is long overdue.

I want to start a band, for the sake of being called "The Wednesbury Unreasonables" which is possibly the best name I've ever heard. Otherwise, next week I plunge back into the morass of School Appeals. Had a stray one today, which against all the odds was dismissed! I almost wanted to lose one - since just now I have a clean sheet, and with a whole lot (over 40) decisions due on the 17th July I felt like it would be a good idea to break my duck now, rather than then. Late stay at work gives occasion for some encouraging pep-talks however.

A rare evening out. Lots of talking, which is a nice change. Almost recruited as some sort of proto-hacker for an investigator. Highly unlikely given my skill set! Decent beer on tap at the White Hart. Spent time in the presence of a certain dental assistant, which was acutely difficult given the circumstances. I'm feeling old and tired today.

An almost solid week of School Admission Appeals - all seems to have gone well, and only one was really difficult or unpleasant. Nerves almost got the better of me first time out, but otherwise I think I've done my best for the school in question. The decisions remain in the hands of the panel of course. Impossible to pre-judge outcomes. Otherwise, I've achieved (indeed, had energy for) little else. Caught up with someone I don't talk to nearly enough. Drank too much wine. I'm having dreams about Net Capacity Assessments. Got James Fenton's 'An Introduction to English Poetry', which is a pleasant enough read, along with a bunch of CD's I could ill afford. A week I've been worrying about for a long time is unbelievable over!

I've had a home on the web for more years than I care to remember, and a few kind souls persuade me it's worth persisting with keeping it updated. This current incarnation of the site is centred around the blog posts which began back in 1999 as 'the daylog' and continued through my travels and tribulations during the following years.

I don't get out and about nearly as much these days, but I do try to record significant events and trips for posterity. You may also have arrived here by following the trail to my former music blog Songs Heard On Fast Trains. That content is preserved here too.
