Weird day. Some interest in Principia which makes me feel very happy! Later, a confusing and deeply boring time. Weirdly, practically everyone I know is busy elsewhere tonight, leaving me to discuss internationalisation (or i18n to the kids!) on #gnome. A little wiser, thanks to Kjartan Maraas, but still unsure what I've fscked up to prevent Luigi's Italian translations from installing.
Early start - woken by news of tragic train collision. Visit to GP confirms Occupational Health view that I need to work somewhere else. No surprises there. A bit more work done on getting stable system snapshots together, and general tidying up my system here. Burned CDs, had lunch. Tried out new coffee place in the afternoon - a very strange atmosphere...its in an old bank, and retains many orignal features from the seventies. Coffee was OK, but nothing fantastic. No quiz this week because everyone is busy - could go alone, but might look like a complete idiot! Spent the evening 'amusing' everyone on #gnome with my banter.
Principia Day Zero - much excitement here at goodwill messages from around the world! Celebrated with fancy pancakes and coffee at Mazzarino's. Sent out some press releases locally, then settled back for a proper listen to the Arab Strap record. Lots more washing done today - novelty swiftly wearing off!
Spent much of the day anxiously awaiting the activation of the Principia domain name, so I could get the bare bones of the site up and running. As of 6pm its active, but not yet fully propagated to the world's DNS servers. New Arab Strap record sneaks out today, and is pretty amazing, if desperately bleak - but perhaps I'm looking at it from a different perspective nowadays? Applied for another job. No word from the last one yet....Saw Almost Famous - best film I've seen in ages, and it dispelled the rumour I'd been spreading only this lunchtime that Peter Frampton was dead.
I've had a home on the web for more years than I care to remember, and a few kind souls persuade me it's worth persisting with keeping it updated. This current incarnation of the site is centred around the blog posts which began back in 1999 as 'the daylog' and continued through my travels and tribulations during the following years.
I don't get out and about nearly as much these days, but I do try to record significant events and trips for posterity. You may also have arrived here by following the trail to my former music blog Songs Heard On Fast Trains. That content is preserved here too.
