Further work on the GtkDial project yields slow but sure progress. Fixed loads of broken links on this site which had drifted out-of-date. Playing with Flash earlier too - fun, but hard to overcome my lack of creativity! Stinkymeat 2 is now is full swing!
Despite urgent need to pay attention to studies, spent much of the afternoon attempting to reimplement GtkDial in C. Ambitious project, but enough success (and beer) to keep me going so far. Typically speedy response from John Winters at The Linux Emporium means our attempts to install Yellow Dog will soon be back on track. Paid some much needed attention to the organisation of the news pages too.
First attempt at installing Yellow Dog fails due to what seems to be a mispressed install disk. Much unhappiness. Using Firestarter 0.4.1 to monitor and tweak the firewall, which seems to be working nicely. Pan is crashing a little bit too regularly for my liking, but feels OK to use - and I'm very picky with newsreaders!
Awaiting another order from lastorders.com. Think I'm understanding K&R, but only with assistance of Steve Summit's excellent notes. Soon to be installing Yellow Dog Linux on the much-mentioned Apple Mac G3. Could be interesting.
I've had a home on the web for more years than I care to remember, and a few kind souls persuade me it's worth persisting with keeping it updated. This current incarnation of the site is centred around the blog posts which began back in 1999 as 'the daylog' and continued through my travels and tribulations during the following years.
I don't get out and about nearly as much these days, but I do try to record significant events and trips for posterity. You may also have arrived here by following the trail to my former music blog Songs Heard On Fast Trains. That content is preserved here too.
