Despite the splash screen, Evolution != 0.9 just yet...the latest build looks and feels quick and smooth to use, but unfortunately eats mbox files. Later attempts to build completely fail - remember - this is fun. IP Knightley's win the quiz once again, two rounds out of three. Vaguely apprehensive about a busy and confusing day tomorrow.

A more optimistic day despite problems in the Evolution builds from yesterday. Building oaf 0.6.2 only seems to make matters worse. On the good news front, a new version of Gnapster fixes the connection problem with the official Napster server. Celebrated with some Neko Case and Death Cab For Cutie MP3s.

New Sawfish includes a nice new theme called "Crux" which is the only thing which has tempted me away from my faithful Helix-Sweetpill themes for ages! Also updated (yet again) RedHat's glibc packages. Worked on the 0.2 stable release of gmailq-applet, but experienced sudden problems with GnomeHelpMenuEntry which were of course entirely my own fault. So a stable version is now out (RH7/RH6/tar.gz) and includes a couple of tweaks. Bit of a frustrating day though, somehow.

Hmm...OpenLDAP 1.2.11 produces little success. Minor troubles with the composer in the latest CVS Evolution too. Much functionality added to gmailq-applet today - it now works with both Exim and Sendmail, and should detect which you have on starting. I've no means of thoroughly testing the Exim support though, so comments are welcome. The usual RPMs etc. are available. Otherwise a mighty weird day.

I've had a home on the web for more years than I care to remember, and a few kind souls persuade me it's worth persisting with keeping it updated. This current incarnation of the site is centred around the blog posts which began back in 1999 as 'the daylog' and continued through my travels and tribulations during the following years.

I don't get out and about nearly as much these days, but I do try to record significant events and trips for posterity. You may also have arrived here by following the trail to my former music blog Songs Heard On Fast Trains. That content is preserved here too.
