Collected Pix from her temporary home, and reintroduced her here. She is a bit sheepish, and very quiet, but otherwise seems to be quite content and relieved to be back. Ordered tiles for my homemade chessboard project. Had lunch at Mazzarino's - highly recommended. Later, finally got my act together and booked flight for GUADEC in Copenhagen. Celebrated with Australian champagne.
A more positive day. Applied for a couple of local jobs, and bought my first ever book of self-adhesive postage stamps (I know, little things....). Spent more time on the config editor thingy (needs a snappier title, but can't get past gwvedit - snappy it ain't!). Generally frustrated with GtkCList irks. Later, got a call from someone half the town away who has found Pix - she is safe and well, and managed to negotiate railway lines, several major roads, and ended up on a housing estate. Just so happened this man went into the GP Surgery across the street where I'd put a poster. Going to collect her tomorrow. Spent most of the night on #gnome-help, and playing with Techbot, which I hope to do some work on next week sometime.
Hmm...the cat is still nowhere to be seen, which is starting to cause me a great deal of concern. Couldn't really settle into things today, so played with Glade a bit, resulting in a bit of a rethink on the GUI for the Gtkdial editor. Later, made and distributed posters regarding wayward feline. Decided to start an Advogato entry, because it seemed like a good idea....its here.
Pretty busy day. Searched for the cat, who now appears to be very much missing in action. Went to Newport, had breakfast, wandered around bookshop and shoe-modification-accessory emporia. Monster headache, compounded by cat situation. Set Evolution building after some minor updating via RedCarpet. Brit Quiz - I.P.Knightley again win, and donate the wine - this being a benefit night for Balancing Energy!
I've had a home on the web for more years than I care to remember, and a few kind souls persuade me it's worth persisting with keeping it updated. This current incarnation of the site is centred around the blog posts which began back in 1999 as 'the daylog' and continued through my travels and tribulations during the following years.
I don't get out and about nearly as much these days, but I do try to record significant events and trips for posterity. You may also have arrived here by following the trail to my former music blog Songs Heard On Fast Trains. That content is preserved here too.
