Hmm...OpenLDAP 1.2.11 produces little success. Minor troubles with the composer in the latest CVS Evolution too. Much functionality added to gmailq-applet today - it now works with both Exim and Sendmail, and should detect which you have on starting. I've no means of thoroughly testing the Exim support though, so comments are welcome. The usual RPMs etc. are available. Otherwise a mighty weird day.

Evolution builds, but it appears my efforts with OpenLDAP 2 might have been wasted. Will try an earlier version later. Started reading "The Burn" by James Kelman - full of insights I'd rather not have just now! Apply for a job at the outsourced Housing Benefit provider CSL which mildly bothers me politically. A long night on #gnome results in me *possibly* convincing Miguel that XML == Ximian Monkey Love. I think I need to get out more....soon. Obsessively downloading Dido MP3s.

After much anoncvs madness, I think I have up-to-date Evolution source. Trying to decide whether I should try to go to GUADEC in Denmark this April, but obviously much depends on the work/money situation. The phone bill arrives, and I'm relieved to see that BT Surftime works! Heard today that tomorrow's interview is mysteriously and indefinately postponed. Channeled energies into gmailq-applet, resulting in 0.1.7 which has solid error checking!

OK, now this is getting silly... spent an hour this morning reorganising my Netscape bookmarks! Later, finally got Gtkdial to work with autoconf etc. Did some more general code tidying too, and consequently released development version 0.3.1. Job interview approaches on Friday.

I've had a home on the web for more years than I care to remember, and a few kind souls persuade me it's worth persisting with keeping it updated. This current incarnation of the site is centred around the blog posts which began back in 1999 as 'the daylog' and continued through my travels and tribulations during the following years.

I don't get out and about nearly as much these days, but I do try to record significant events and trips for posterity. You may also have arrived here by following the trail to my former music blog Songs Heard On Fast Trains. That content is preserved here too.
