Back from Copenhagen late last night, and vaguely dizzy after what was a successful, incredibly interesting weekend. GUADEC highlights (too numerous to mention) included some inspirational and informative talks on GnomeVFS and Bonobo, the suspension of 'hostilities' with KDE and free food and beer courtesy of Ximian. Results of borrowing the camera will soon be available. Personally speaking, the possibility of exciting employment news at the end of the summer was very encouraging. Spent today catching up with people and being furtive....

Literally minutes pre-departure for airport. Borrowed a Kodak DC-215 digital camera, and just got it up and running with gPhoto in literally seconds! Much impressed with both camera and software. Otherwise, all preparations are either complete or fallen by the wayside due to time constraints. Maybe when I get back I'll split this (now huge) page up once again.

Much running around and generally trying to get things in order before GUADEC. Principia packages of most of GNOME are done, and one or two more troublesome components will have to wait. Took Pix to her temporary holiday home. A return to winning form in the Brit Quiz.

Its very late, my head and eyes ache, and I want to go to sleep and have another of the funny and strange dreams which seem to have haunted my sleep for the past few days. Spent much of today packaging GNOME 1.4 ("Tranquility"/"Fifth Toe") stuff, fixing .spec files and suchlike along the way. The chessboard finally found an appreciative audience. Pretty much sorted out arrangements for GUADEC this coming weekend, including getting my DKK.

I've had a home on the web for more years than I care to remember, and a few kind souls persuade me it's worth persisting with keeping it updated. This current incarnation of the site is centred around the blog posts which began back in 1999 as 'the daylog' and continued through my travels and tribulations during the following years.

I don't get out and about nearly as much these days, but I do try to record significant events and trips for posterity. You may also have arrived here by following the trail to my former music blog Songs Heard On Fast Trains. That content is preserved here too.
