More messing with Gtkdial, mainly in an attempt to get autoconf etc. to do its stuff. Later had an unplanned dinner at Mai Thai in Weston - amazing food, definitely the best in Weston.

Hmm...lots of entries this month reflects the general lack of pressure at GNEHQ. Played with wine (which isn't a windows emulator), but the sight of those made-in-Redmond style dialogs on the screen sent a shudder down my spine - rpm -e time! More work done on the next Gtkdial, with the valuable assistance of the new book. The Welsman Massive venture down to Weston. My latest job application would make my career path practically circular!

Found a major race condition in Gtkdial which I'd naively hacked my way around in the past! Fixed it, and implemented some pretty significant speed improvements by eliminating some system() calls which were clogging things up nastily. Consequently 0.2.20 is out now and is recommended. Otherwise a mildly irritating day... The GNOME book arrived at last.

At last the GNOME book is on its way from BOL! Just in time to coincide with a Royal Mail strike though. Otherwise life here is very quiet. Still no sign of Sawfish 0.34 RPMs from Helix yet. For the sake of my sanity, I think I'll wait. The I.P.Knightley (Under 21 section) fare a little better in the Brit Quiz - 2nd, despite only 50% team availability.

I've had a home on the web for more years than I care to remember, and a few kind souls persuade me it's worth persisting with keeping it updated. This current incarnation of the site is centred around the blog posts which began back in 1999 as 'the daylog' and continued through my travels and tribulations during the following years.

I don't get out and about nearly as much these days, but I do try to record significant events and trips for posterity. You may also have arrived here by following the trail to my former music blog Songs Heard On Fast Trains. That content is preserved here too.
