Again, sped through the day reasonably easily despite some harrowing realisations that things are looking grim for others. My own future is not exactly certain, but in the light of previous experience and general relief at just being able to get on with my job, I'm currently reasonably relaxed about it. Installed a bunch of Solaris boxes today, which was simple, quick and rewarding! Managed to untangle some of my addled concerns, but replaced them with other phantoms soon afterwards of course! Later surprisingly found myself out and about. Valuable lesson learned about appreciating the simplicity of my childhood and family life.
Today went mercifully quickly - whilst I was pretty relaxed and happily busy with my own thing, others appeared to be drowning in troubles not of their own making. Purchased cakes to celebrate Principia's recent successes. What started out a cold, grim day turned out brighter later and I managed to stay reasonably happy despite relatively high background-levels of disquiet and brooding on my part. Had a really good 'feet back on the ground' type talk with a friend I see far too little of tonight. Feel encouraged and invigorated, but slightly guilty for off-loading as usual! It is always good to talk though - and nice to be speaking to someone who completely understands my sometimes misdirected sense of humour. Invented a new game too "Fantasy Social Services Team" - who would you pick if YOU were a team manager? I think I know who my team would be! Trying to motivate myself to do next essay and work on End of Course Assessment, but right now I really can't be bothered with it. Also played with Glade in an effort to redesign gtkdial. All too much work right now.
A birthday. Kept my promise and stayed out all day! A miracle in what has been a sleepy weekend for me. Ate and drank too much and almost didn't make it through to midnight. Otherwise, I feel vaguely guilty than amidst the apparent collapse of a community effort, I'm doing pretty well myself.
A very good day for Principia. Early start for a haircut (at last), and a short stint at Balancing Energy before visiting music event again to see K-Passa. I always seem to miss them, so it was good to see them again at last. Fell asleep early (partly due to consumption of remarkably soporific real ale).
I've had a home on the web for more years than I care to remember, and a few kind souls persuade me it's worth persisting with keeping it updated. This current incarnation of the site is centred around the blog posts which began back in 1999 as 'the daylog' and continued through my travels and tribulations during the following years.
I don't get out and about nearly as much these days, but I do try to record significant events and trips for posterity. You may also have arrived here by following the trail to my former music blog Songs Heard On Fast Trains. That content is preserved here too.
