Got up late, feeling groggy. Set out for Burnham but for some reason the driver of the 12:00 bus decided to pass me by. Made it back to the station in time to see the 12:21 train leaving. Decided that perhaps it wasn't the best day to be trying to get to Burnham. Later, went to a music and dance festival in Grove Park - watched an amazing guy from one of the African drumming troupes perform an array of gymnastic, balancing and juggling acts! Came home early, quitting whilst ahead as they say. More work on my little daylog app today, which (since I'm writing this in it) appears to work fine! Lots of crazy ideas for adding features which are sure to make it as unwieldy and slow as firing up a text editor is anyway!
A brief, but rather dull afternoon out. Managed to do all my washing, cleaning and even another attempt at ironing. Started work on a little app to automate this diary entry. Had originally planned to implement a C module for Voltron's iThought, but eventually decided to just write it anyway. Later, out and about - drank way too much.
The end of a pretty exhausting week - in a good way - slightly less frenzied today. Finally set about rebuilding Evolution for the first time in awhile - to think I used to do this practically daily! The delay in a new gal stable release is holding back gtranslator some more, so my packaging efforts won't be required this weekend. A shame because I'm looking for things to fill the Bank Holiday with. A 'legal cruise' has been organised in Weston this coming weekend - the idea being that the hordes of youngsters in cars which hit the town each Holiday Weekend will have a nice big airfield to zoom around in!
The same old names keep cropping up in relation to the same old work problems - once it was depressing, nowadays its reassuring. They must think I'm insane as I grin my way through yet another budgetary disaster. If only they knew.... Got mail relaying and ssh up and running, so now my little Compaq notebook is practically fully functional. Just heard the Reindeer Section CD - curious, but valuable for the Aidan Moffat collaboration "Nytol" alone! Did the en_GB translation for gtranslator. Feels like it's going to be a long and troublesome week - I hope so much that I'm wrong...
I've had a home on the web for more years than I care to remember, and a few kind souls persuade me it's worth persisting with keeping it updated. This current incarnation of the site is centred around the blog posts which began back in 1999 as 'the daylog' and continued through my travels and tribulations during the following years.
I don't get out and about nearly as much these days, but I do try to record significant events and trips for posterity. You may also have arrived here by following the trail to my former music blog Songs Heard On Fast Trains. That content is preserved here too.
