Industrious day. Got mail sorted out here, since Evolution seemed to get upset collecting it directly from the server. Should have done this a long time ago anyway. Since that was fixed, moved on to trying to use Mailman as a possible way of making this daylog more manageable. Wandered around town amid tediously large pre-christmas crowds. Attempted to buy a coffee maker (I break every one I get in less than a year usually), but gave up because of queues. Went to sleep way too early.

Another of those days when you say more than you should, think less than you ought to, but mainly just find there are some blessings to count after all. A productive couple of days at work - things making more sense mostly. The election trucks along almost unnoticed, whilst I bid crazy money on expensive collections of books on eBay. Relieved to see the end of this week. Onerous task of dividing up this page is bearing down on me - but life on DSL means I don't notice when it gets cumbersome and large. Did very little today. Feeling regretful that I'm not doing further London wanderings this weekend. Later, invited to early dinner and to drink too much. Gratefully accepted invitation. Pleasant, if late evening.
I've had a home on the web for more years than I care to remember, and a few kind souls persuade me it's worth persisting with keeping it updated. This current incarnation of the site is centred around the blog posts which began back in 1999 as 'the daylog' and continued through my travels and tribulations during the following years.
I don't get out and about nearly as much these days, but I do try to record significant events and trips for posterity. You may also have arrived here by following the trail to my former music blog Songs Heard On Fast Trains. That content is preserved here too.
