Back from an overnight in Southampton to meet American friends who are moving to the UK. All goes well, but the distance between B&B -> town -> docks is much greater than anticipated. I would strongly advise anyone against staying at the Winston Hotel - they really mean it about the karaoke! Further unsuccessful attempts to get the necessary libraries for Evolution up and running.
I think things are pretty stable now...finally got my mouse wheel working again, which is a good sign. Otherwise, things are quiet. Time to reinstall Nethack.
I'm back after a frustrating weekend which saw my hard drive pack up entirely. Firstly, I'm amazed how much of the configuration process of this box I've remembered, and a lot of the problems I've had have been with tidying up after well-meaning "make it easy" installation tools etc! Anyway - all should be back to normal now...
Woke up feeling worse than yesterday! Weird liquid head thing happening... Good start though - got 82 for the essay on Palliative Care. Collected a package from the Post Office - it was the Ed's Redeeming Qualities tape which I've wanted to hear again since John Peel played it in 1990! Curse my amazing memory.
I've had a home on the web for more years than I care to remember, and a few kind souls persuade me it's worth persisting with keeping it updated. This current incarnation of the site is centred around the blog posts which began back in 1999 as 'the daylog' and continued through my travels and tribulations during the following years.
I don't get out and about nearly as much these days, but I do try to record significant events and trips for posterity. You may also have arrived here by following the trail to my former music blog Songs Heard On Fast Trains. That content is preserved here too.
