The simple fact is we're not working fast enough to hit our deadline. Spent today working stupidly fast due to this realisation, along with the fact that my disappearance for a couple of days will not improve my colleagues view of my dedication to business. Viewing tomorrow with a mixture of grave determination and nervous excitement. Flying visit to Bristol, back to Weston for meeting, decent food, then home videos. Exhausted already.
Looking forward with some trepidation to a week which will be at the outside, interesting. ADSL modem arrives. Set it up and tried as far as possible to set things up in preparation for the service becoming available. Sort of terrified that I'll mess it up completely of course. Blazing sunshine. Took advantage of a walk, and became involved in some guerilla interior design work. Later, out into the wilds to some country pubs. Perhaps I'm getting old, but I'm so much happier in these wayside inns than anywhere in town nowadays. Learned how to play a dice game called "Shut the Box". A really pleasant evening.
Straight from work onto a train for Bath Spa. First decent weather of the week, and generally a really nice evening wandering about. Visited pubs including the now almost legendary in these parts "Dark Horse" which turned out to be far less sinister than it appeared! Searched in vain for food, finding everywhere amazingly busy. Eventually went for a Latin American place which took forever to get food to us - much to our frustration. Train back absurdly late. Very sleepy, full of food and happy.
An unexpected afternoon/evening out. Good to catch up as ever, and its always a relief to find people who don't think you're completely mad! Drank way too much, and felt the effects. Overall however, a really good day. Some remarkable revalations too. Its a strange world we inhabit.
I've had a home on the web for more years than I care to remember, and a few kind souls persuade me it's worth persisting with keeping it updated. This current incarnation of the site is centred around the blog posts which began back in 1999 as 'the daylog' and continued through my travels and tribulations during the following years.
I don't get out and about nearly as much these days, but I do try to record significant events and trips for posterity. You may also have arrived here by following the trail to my former music blog Songs Heard On Fast Trains. That content is preserved here too.
