I've dreaded today for a long time - office Christmas decorations day. Put off 'helping out' as long as possible, then just stood around looking pained. Managed to deflect most efforts away from my area of the room. One or two people felt it their duty to attempt to make me 'feel festive'. Left them in no doubt that their efforts were in vain. Frustrating.
Had a deeply frustrating day for no reason in particular, so sped off to Bristol post-work. Brisk walk across freezing city centre to record store. Coffee, and a wander up Whiteladies Road before heading back. A long time since I've done that. Pleasant evening.
Election results day. Stayed up for the counting - more out of tradition than any concern that I'd be elected. Did passably in the end, and I'm really happy with the vast majority of those elected too. A more varied board than I'd expected. Incredibly sleepy now.
Industrious day. Got mail sorted out here, since Evolution seemed to get upset collecting it directly from the server. Should have done this a long time ago anyway. Since that was fixed, moved on to trying to use Mailman as a possible way of making this daylog more manageable. Wandered around town amid tediously large pre-christmas crowds. Attempted to buy a coffee maker (I break every one I get in less than a year usually), but gave up because of queues. Went to sleep way too early.
I've had a home on the web for more years than I care to remember, and a few kind souls persuade me it's worth persisting with keeping it updated. This current incarnation of the site is centred around the blog posts which began back in 1999 as 'the daylog' and continued through my travels and tribulations during the following years.
I don't get out and about nearly as much these days, but I do try to record significant events and trips for posterity. You may also have arrived here by following the trail to my former music blog Songs Heard On Fast Trains. That content is preserved here too.
