Weird vibes around - very strange happenings on all fronts. A week off now to desperately prepare coursework. Funeral was very strange, and very poorly attended which was kind of upsetting.
Not much progress today due to other commitments, which is frustrating. Next week is going to have to be entirely dedicated to study and research too. Soundtrack of the day is the amazing Kingsbury Manx LP on City Slang.
Got and built Kernel 2.2.17 on both machines - pretty quick of the mark by my standards! After a lot of research, and realising I probably should have purchased The Linux Network Administrator's Guide sooner rather than later, I have NFS working pretty much satisfactorily. The last week has opened lots of cans of worms, but I feel like I've progressed in leaps and bounds. Time to get some real work done I suppose.
Got IP Masquerading up and running today, meaning the server can now be knocked into shape for its future role! Did some general upgrading on both Lionel and Strathcona to celebrate. Goodbye to Charlie Hunt - I never met him in person, but spent many happy phonecalls chatting with him about anything and everything.
I've had a home on the web for more years than I care to remember, and a few kind souls persuade me it's worth persisting with keeping it updated. This current incarnation of the site is centred around the blog posts which began back in 1999 as 'the daylog' and continued through my travels and tribulations during the following years.
I don't get out and about nearly as much these days, but I do try to record significant events and trips for posterity. You may also have arrived here by following the trail to my former music blog Songs Heard On Fast Trains. That content is preserved here too.
