Pay day. Trip to Bristol, and to some rather good pubs which I'd not visited before. Excellent company, and lots of fun. Found myself reading Keats aloud in an unlikely tavern. Later, extremely teenage behaviour in Bristol's bus stops. I don't understand it - why was I 65 when I was 15, and 15 when I'm 30? Confused, but very happy. Arrived home late. Ended up visiting lots of APT websites, since a new UK rail speed record was set. Also, noted Bristol academic (and Gissing List member) in TV exposure! Very happy and confused today!
Appraisal day. All goes well. More meetings. More confusion. More revelations. I like my job - more than ever, but the politics are sometimes bewildering. I've learned to side-step them mostly, but its hard to avoid. Need new projects and things to look forward to.
Back to work. All very hurried and confusing. Lots going on, some of it secret and worrying. Meetings about Net Capacity start the week. Appraisal looms. Tons happening, considering its Summer Holidays. Will people never stop applying for school places this september?!
Some madness in dealing with Connaught Hall early on. Frenzied running around to get to Senate House in time for Robin Woolven's walk around Gissing's Camden residences. Great stuff, and most of us press on to the site of 7K Cornwall Residences. Made the acquaintance of Robin Woolven and John Spiers en route, which made for pleasant discussion. Rapid walk back via St. Pancras. End up at Paddington earlier than necessary. Very sleepy on arriving home.

I've had a home on the web for more years than I care to remember, and a few kind souls persuade me it's worth persisting with keeping it updated. This current incarnation of the site is centred around the blog posts which began back in 1999 as 'the daylog' and continued through my travels and tribulations during the following years.
