Spent some time harvesting kit from the computer graveyard which lives behind my new desk, including a printer which will go to join the original <<lionel>>. Also have a semi-official RedHat 7.1 box on the desk next door! Managed to get sensible work out of Sourceforge, and now Gtkdial and its editor component are in CVS. Kabalak started the hacking by clearing up after me (thanks!), and I even squished two bugs in the newfound enthusiasm for my own horrid code. Lots of new projects to mull over tonight too. Spent a long time on IRC trying to be helpful.

Beautiful weather helps otherwise non-existent enthusiasm. Bungled through the day, wondering what on earth I was doing. Set up gtkdial on sourceforge.net, primarily for the mailing lists and CVS features. On getting back to Weston, shopped extensively and managed to get back into "sorting" mode. Visited, and attempted to redress lack of acknowledgment of friends as discussed below! Spent much of the evening trying to set up CVS and so on, with help from Kabalak. Evolution is working again thank goodness. Pretty exhausted now.

Far too miserable to do much with the diary this weekend, so a short catch-up. Ex-colleague's leaving event on Friday night is really good, but very sad in lots of ways - some of them rather selfish perhaps. Finally got gtkdial 0.3.6 out on Saturday. Also did lots of housekeeping including arranging the return of the laptop, the switch over of the mobile phone accounts, and several job applications. Spent today doing tons of washing, cooking, cleaning etc. Feeling deeply unprepared and irrationally horrified at going to work tomorrow. Evolution isn't playing nice at all today. Built, but incapable of useful activity. Don't feel like I tell my friends how much I value them nearly often enough.

Finally, after a couple of frustrating days, Ximian GNOME is functioning perfectly on both machines here. Its not just eye-candy though, and the Mozilla and Nautilus packages are pretty speedy! Otherwise, constructed hasty web page for Open University assignment (its here). Slumped to third in the Brit Quiz yesterday. Feel vaguely like a condemned man tonight...

I've had a home on the web for more years than I care to remember, and a few kind souls persuade me it's worth persisting with keeping it updated. This current incarnation of the site is centred around the blog posts which began back in 1999 as 'the daylog' and continued through my travels and tribulations during the following years.

I don't get out and about nearly as much these days, but I do try to record significant events and trips for posterity. You may also have arrived here by following the trail to my former music blog Songs Heard On Fast Trains. That content is preserved here too.
