A better day - more sleep last night, less pain this morning and a much needed shave! Played with IrDA and got my Nokia 7110 talking to the laptop. Nice lunch - great to get out and talk to people! Better financial news later, but convincing the DSS to cover the gap between jobs might be hard.

Never thought having a shower would feel like such an unbelievable luxury! Have spent the last couple of days learning how to do stuff one-handed, and trying hard to find comfortable ways of sleeping. Went to funeral in Redditch yesterday which passed without incident. Lacklustre performance in an extremely hard Brit Quiz last night.

Well, what I got to see of the Chippenham Folk Festival was pretty incredible. My highlights were really the impromptu bits of music whic just appeared from nowhere (like the quartet who practised in a corner of the churchyard). The acapella singing was quie moving too - never underestimate the power of a lone human voice. Stupidly managed to break my right arm on Sunday, necessitating visits to both Chippenham and Bath Royal United Hospials. This made things awkward and uncomfortable, and I can't help feeling it made things less fun for others, which makes me very sad indeed. I can't thank my friends enough for the support, tolerance and care they gave this weekend. Work things very confused now - was due to finish today at Bristol anyway! Definately got the job at North Somerset though, to start as soon as I'm fit.

Desperately need to finish my essay for T171 and submit it today, but my heart just isn't in it yet. Woke up feeling a bit maudlin but generally OK. Experimented with laundry and found my arm more than capable of the task in hand. Getting to grips with plans for a busy week ahead - discovered that I'm going to be seeing Lambchop on 5th - a fine opportunity for me to repeat the yarn about me releasing their first ever UK recordings!

I've had a home on the web for more years than I care to remember, and a few kind souls persuade me it's worth persisting with keeping it updated. This current incarnation of the site is centred around the blog posts which began back in 1999 as 'the daylog' and continued through my travels and tribulations during the following years.

I don't get out and about nearly as much these days, but I do try to record significant events and trips for posterity. You may also have arrived here by following the trail to my former music blog Songs Heard On Fast Trains. That content is preserved here too.
