Left work early in a blaze of sunshine. Caught the bus to the post office depot to collect a parcel of books. Over the past week, a constant supply of literature has been essential. Its been a funny and unrewarding week, relieved only by the voracious and obsessive consumption of books. Work remains a source of much confusion - I think it signifies my descent into eternal clerkdom one day, and the next it seems progressive and dynamic. Its all to do with my mood - not learning this year has put me in a spin, and having to face the sight of all these alluring sounding courses people are going on makes me want to ditch things and run towards the nearest college or university. Not, of course, a realistic proposition. Hanging in there, by a reasonably sturdy thread...

I've had a home on the web for more years than I care to remember, and a few kind souls persuade me it's worth persisting with keeping it updated. This current incarnation of the site is centred around the blog posts which began back in 1999 as 'the daylog' and continued through my travels and tribulations during the following years.

I don't get out and about nearly as much these days, but I do try to record significant events and trips for posterity. You may also have arrived here by following the trail to my former music blog Songs Heard On Fast Trains. That content is preserved here too.
