Day 2 of the mini-holiday. Did some investigation into DSL here, and then set out early for Bristol. Visited and ministered to the sick. then wandered down to the University, where the UKUUG were holding their Linux Developer Conference. Had failed to register in time for the discount and begrudged the higher fee, so I wasn't signed up. Browsed the public exhibition area and chatted to a few vaguely familiar faces, but then talks started up again so I left for coffee. Killed a couple of hours happily reading and taking the sun on College Green before wandering to the Colston Hall to check that the venue change for Lambchop was correct. It was, so had more coffee and conducted some business via telephone (annoying passers by in a way I'm not usually guilty of). Arrived at Fleece & Firkin early. Interesting to people-watch/listen in the (very mixed) queue. Might write something about this whole experience elsewhere. Support act Lincoln were fantastic, despite the sarcasm and sniping of a couple standing beside me. In the midst of a fine set they threw in a brass-bedecked cover of Palace's "New Partner" - fine stuff. Lambchop were late on, and I had to leave early, which kind of ruined things, but as ever they were pretty amazing. A long, hot and tiring day.

I've had a home on the web for more years than I care to remember, and a few kind souls persuade me it's worth persisting with keeping it updated. This current incarnation of the site is centred around the blog posts which began back in 1999 as 'the daylog' and continued through my travels and tribulations during the following years.

I don't get out and about nearly as much these days, but I do try to record significant events and trips for posterity. You may also have arrived here by following the trail to my former music blog Songs Heard On Fast Trains. That content is preserved here too.
