Back from weekend in Glasgow. Had a fantastic time, spent way too much money and ate and drank loads more than advisable. Stumbled into the opening day sale at the new Fopp Records which was an expensive mistake. Otherwise, visited The 13th Note a lot. Highlight must be the insights and brief tour of Govan shipyards by a taxi driver who was once a 'corker'. Found lastorders.com an online off-license!

This website received a scathing rebuke from a disgruntled reader a couple of days ago, via the comments page. I'm giving serious thoughts to its future, as it is admittedly not really an important addition to the web at large. Anyway - its temporarily closed for consideration. If you're reading, you'll know how to get here for the time being. Installed Helix Gnome today, which fixed most of my difficulties, but Evolution still will not build! Desktop looks damn fancy now though.

A brief chat with the Wizard in Burnham reveals that this page may have more readers than I bargained for. What incredibly dull lives you must all have waiting for my next reinstallation, dodgy book recommendation or whatever! I may have to start telling lies to make it all more interesting. Anyway, if you are new to this page, you should know it looks better in Netscape or Mozilla than in Internet Explorer (by accident not design), works fine in Lynx, and its updated when I can be arsed to do so. Need to study desperately hard in order to not feel guilty throughout Glasgow trip.

After all the hit and miss work with GNOME libraries, I notice that Linux Emporium is selling Helix GNOME (which includes latest gnumeric, gimp etc.) on CD-R for a fiver! Worrying greatly about Community Care research project

I've had a home on the web for more years than I care to remember, and a few kind souls persuade me it's worth persisting with keeping it updated. This current incarnation of the site is centred around the blog posts which began back in 1999 as 'the daylog' and continued through my travels and tribulations during the following years.

I don't get out and about nearly as much these days, but I do try to record significant events and trips for posterity. You may also have arrived here by following the trail to my former music blog Songs Heard On Fast Trains. That content is preserved here too.
