So now Gmailq-applet is my latest obsession. Leaps and bounds early on, slowing to a grind by mid-afternoon. It now works pretty well, and can easily be changed to display different (but still pretty horrible looking) icons...I'm just no Tigert I'm afraid. So, here is the tarball, the RedHat 7.0...
