It's been quite a tough week, but somewhere today, in the midst of a tide of complaining customers I found some momentum and actually started enjoying it. Applied for a job this week, which felt a bit naughty, but would be quite a change. Its also in Bristol, which would eventually necessitate a move. Don't know what to do. Cleaned the house. Have nothing to do now, but consider how to make LemmingChat cope with irc:// URLs. Oddly, the very same half-assed application later got a mention on the RedHat Beta mailing list!

Bank Holiday. Hate the very name of them. As ever, Weston became a seething pit of people too busy having fun to look ahead whilst walking or crossing the road. Realised that our one remaining record shop has closed (not counting the V.Shop which sells a few CDs as a sideline to its burgeoning mobile phone business). It was expensive, not terribly eclectic and usually didn't have what I want, but I realised that the closure of the record shop was the last straw for my stay in Burnham. Perhaps this is it for me and Weston?

The Wedding Party. A last minute dash across town, and eventually to Burnham. Half pleased to be doing something different, half troubled by needing to be polite and sociable. Needn't have worried, as I was greeted by lots of familiar faces, and people who seemed really pleased to see me. Music provided by Mr Tim and Mr Paul - including a startlingly unsuitable rendition of "Quicksand". Late and somewhat drunken evening, but pleasant nonetheless.

Cancellation of travels further afield allows me to assist a friend on a short trip to Bristol today. Didn't expect much entertainment from this, in the sense that the trip's purpose was by nature not a happy one. However, it turned into a pleasant day of wandering, eating, shopping and drinking far too much. Happier than I've been for a long time today. Bed early however, feeling drunk and queasy. I clearly am not as young as I used to be.

I've had a home on the web for more years than I care to remember, and a few kind souls persuade me it's worth persisting with keeping it updated. This current incarnation of the site is centred around the blog posts which began back in 1999 as 'the daylog' and continued through my travels and tribulations during the following years.

I don't get out and about nearly as much these days, but I do try to record significant events and trips for posterity. You may also have arrived here by following the trail to my former music blog Songs Heard On Fast Trains. That content is preserved here too.
