Massive updating going on courtesy of Red Carpet. Lots of bits and bobs I'd probably not have grabbed had it not been for the novelty. Overnight building goes well. Entire new Mogwai album has arrived on Napster several months before release. The bits I've grabbed so far are predictably amazing, if a little more subdued than previously. Absolutely knackered after yesterday. Vague memories of weird cocktails and a bloke claiming to be either Dave or Harry??

Seems like the arrival of Red Carpet has caused lots of problems for users of Evolution the world over. My several-day-old build dies when getting mail now, which is sort of fundamental I s'pose! Job interview goes well, and is actually fun - there is a world outside Local Government it seems. Whether my experience exceeded their needs, or whether my salary expectations were unreasonable remains to be seen, but the idea that someone couldn't afford me is kind of cool in a way! Later, had expensive and really good dinner at Luigi's, and a very very late, but happy and memorable night.

Very late night. First build of Evolution for a while goes OK, but calender weirdness persists, and random mail crashes are appearing. Also playing with lots of new toys, including a working Galeon at last, and the beta of Red Carpet which looks and feels amazing, but has an alarming habit of suggesting I install kdebase all the time! Blew money on new Low at last, and truly amazing Jim White. Incredibly sleepy now. Oh, I.P.Knightley once again triumphed in the Brit Quiz yesterday - despite a schism in our ranks!

Spent the morning playing with Eazel Services via Nautilus. Its now drawing the desktop for me, which looks nice, and seems OK speedwise in the cold light of day! Amused by my colleagues disbelief in my assertions of happiness in this daylog. If anyone else wants a CD-R of the Ximian GNOME 1.4 beta 1 packages for RedHat 7.0+, it'll cost you a quid inc. postage - UK only. Otherwise a quiet day today.

I've had a home on the web for more years than I care to remember, and a few kind souls persuade me it's worth persisting with keeping it updated. This current incarnation of the site is centred around the blog posts which began back in 1999 as 'the daylog' and continued through my travels and tribulations during the following years.

I don't get out and about nearly as much these days, but I do try to record significant events and trips for posterity. You may also have arrived here by following the trail to my former music blog Songs Heard On Fast Trains. That content is preserved here too.
