OK, the vodka worked. Still frustrated by attempts to revise - seem to have the concentration span of a concussed goldfish at present. Suppose I need to make a decision soon. In between revision-related panics, managed to sort out the havoc that had been wreaked on the gnome-panel by KFM (which I had no idea had been installed by RedHat 7.0). Forcibly removed the offending kdebase RPM. Happy Birthday Steve! Looks like there may soon be a new addition to the staff at GNEHQ....

Delgados at the Fiddlers. So knackered I actually thought about skipping it! They were absolutely amazing - only sorry I had to disappear early due to getting the last train home. Emma, if for any reason you're after a sad, fat, balding bloke, use the contact page. One year anniversary of the new Duty/Customer Services Team in Bristol. Not officially marked as such - unsurprisingly in the circumstances.

Second day of a pretty tough working week so far. RedHat 7.0 (Guiness) disks arrive. Why that name? Never been keen on the stuff (despite enforced drinking at 13th Note last visit). Some weird issues on a hurried install done at around 3am after a Joan Armatrading concert (!), but finally have XFree86 4.0 up and running (the RPM way of course).

Trek over to Burnham yesterday - not much going on really. Revision needs to start soon - exams on 11th and 16th October. Awaiting delivery of RedHat 7.0 disks from The Linux Emporium which will hopefully see me finally (and painlessly?) upgraded to XFree86 4.0! Too much pastis and too long on Napster trying to steel myself for the week ahead.

I've had a home on the web for more years than I care to remember, and a few kind souls persuade me it's worth persisting with keeping it updated. This current incarnation of the site is centred around the blog posts which began back in 1999 as 'the daylog' and continued through my travels and tribulations during the following years.

I don't get out and about nearly as much these days, but I do try to record significant events and trips for posterity. You may also have arrived here by following the trail to my former music blog Songs Heard On Fast Trains. That content is preserved here too.
