The Preferences Window
Timer Page
Many of the features of Gtkdial are configurable via the Preferences Dialog (accessed via the Settings... menu):
Timer Preferences
All timer preferences will take effect from the next time Gtkdial is started.
- Display session timer in main window
Gtkdial will display a connection timer when next started, which will count from zero whilst a connection is in progress. The timer will auto-start if a connection is already in progress when Gtdkial is started. This applies to both single- and multi-ISP modes, and the timer can be controlled via the Timer... menu when enabled.
- Reset current session timer on each new connection
This option is only available if the above option is selected. It simply zeros the timer each time a new successful connection is made, displaying a per-connection timer only.
- Save total time of all sessions
When this option is selected, the value on the timer when Gtkdial is closed will be remembered. Useful for monitoring usage over longer periods. You may view this timer by selecting the option below.
- Display total timer in main window
This option will display the cumulative time of all sessions since last being reset. It can be used either in conjunction or separately from the session timer above.
- Alert me when total time reaches limit
You may set a limit (in hours) after which the total timer will pop up a dialog to remind you that your online time has exceed the limit selected by the spin-button below.
- Reset total time when limit reached
After the limit is reached, the timer will continue to count. This option resets the timer to zero on reaching the limit, with the alert reoccurring should you again exceed the limit.
