The Preferences Window
General Page
Many of the features of Gtkdial are configurable via the Preferences Dialog (accessed via the Settings... menu):
General Preferences
- Start Gtkdial in Single Service Mode
This option will start Gtkdial with only the primary ISP available for dialing. This is assumed to be the first ISP in the /etc/wvdial.conf file. The main window will change accordingly. This setting will not take effect until Gtkdial is restarted.
- Disable audio connection alerts
By default, Gtkdial will play an annoying sound on successful connect/disconnect. Currently this is a silly noise, but it may change in future releases. If you don't want to hear this, selecting this will disable the alerts from the next time you start Gtkdial.
- Close window after connect/kill
This option takes effect immediately, and will dismiss the window on a successful connection or disconnection. Useful if you use one of the free ISPs where multiple dialins are required to get a connection: wvdial will continuously retry a connection, and the Gtkdial window will disappear when finally PPP comes up!
- Show connection debugging window
A small text box will be appended to the main window which will display the output of the spawned wvdial process. Note that if Gtkdial is started with this option when a connection is already active, it will not display debugging information until the next new connection is started.
