At last, after nine months and some very strange times, a new stable gtkdial has made it out of the door! I don't suppose 0.4.0 is much of a revolution, but its more stable, behaves sensibly in bad situations, and fixes most complained-about bugs. Now I can get on with new, tricksy things involving Etree et al. Also put out a corresponding gwvedit release. Reactions to this will be interesting. Later, went out for a bit - first time in 'public' for weeks, which feels very odd at first. End up at some kind of tapas night in a local pub.

Early start, since I didn't know how today was going to pan out. Washed, cleaned, tidied and sorted stuff out. Discovered that my "lifting man" services were not required. Still, had nice chat on the phone which kept me diverted for awhile. Got the train over to see my parents (a train which terminated at Highbridge, via a little-used set of points just north of the station). Dad ferried me back in borrowed Alfa Romeo 3 Litre. We toured around a bit, and discovered a shortcut for me to use to get to the new office. Otherwise, a dull, vaguely disappointing day. Trying to build GNOME2, which should indicate the current state of play adequately!

A long, strange and exhausting day of packing boxes and wondering about next week's move. I'm probably better placed than some to deal with it, having moved about quite a bit employment and location-wise in the past year or so, but its sad to see so many colleagues so unhappy about it. Diverted energies into making things go as hassle-free as possible. Otherwise a quiet, boring evening.

An excerpt from #gnome:

I've had a home on the web for more years than I care to remember, and a few kind souls persuade me it's worth persisting with keeping it updated. This current incarnation of the site is centred around the blog posts which began back in 1999 as 'the daylog' and continued through my travels and tribulations during the following years.

I don't get out and about nearly as much these days, but I do try to record significant events and trips for posterity. You may also have arrived here by following the trail to my former music blog Songs Heard On Fast Trains. That content is preserved here too.
