Early physiotherapy appointment confirms good progress. A great deal of sorting done today - insurance forms, benefits etc. Feel generally a lot more optimistic than I have done for a very long time. Back to working on gtkdial after realising I've been promising a final pre-release of 0.4.0 for weeks. Pleasant and quiet evening out. Much happier knowing I'll be working next week, but still very aware of how this is going back to a place with a history for me.

Finally got the gtkdial/gwvedit CVS repositories synced, meaning that all my machines are running the same versions. Committed some new icons too, in the hope that they will soon be replaced by some designed by a far more professional artist than I. Otherwise, read up a little on IrDA and the Nokia 7110 phone in an attempt to hopefully eventually get phone and PC talking to each other.

Disorienting day - after yesterday's panic-fuelled headlong run through the fiery hoops of local government recruitment, today is reasonably placid. Grateful for support from friends and colleagues this week. Some tentatively positive news at the end of the day is welcome. Squishing bugs and corner cases in gwvedit - the code is now unlovely, but its probably one of the more solid things I've written. Much preparation done for the weekend too.

When impossibility comes knocking, what would you do? No, honestly - what would YOU do? Sometimes the mistakes, omissions and (lets be honest) malevolent misrepresentations which people perpetrate amaze me. I really don't think I'll ever be shocked by them again. I truly wish I had the capacity to be defiant today, but energy and sanity are at a premium, and I need all I have for the next several days.

I've had a home on the web for more years than I care to remember, and a few kind souls persuade me it's worth persisting with keeping it updated. This current incarnation of the site is centred around the blog posts which began back in 1999 as 'the daylog' and continued through my travels and tribulations during the following years.

I don't get out and about nearly as much these days, but I do try to record significant events and trips for posterity. You may also have arrived here by following the trail to my former music blog Songs Heard On Fast Trains. That content is preserved here too.
