A surprise trip to London. Spend the entire day in Tate Modern completely losing track of time. Had a fantastic time, and I'm now utterly knackered! Next major task is to upgrade to even newer glibc packages provided by RedHat. Is my system back to some kind of standard yet?

A more relaxing day on the whole. With Gtkdial relatively stable, turned my attention to my other bubbling GNOME app, gpuce. Whilst some have called it an obsessional and worrying application, I see it more as an exploration of IMLIB and Gdk images. Anyway, it works and the package includes 35 hand picked images including Mr.Bristow's classic "blue face" portrait. Anyway had a nice extended lunchtime and learned quite a bit despite becoming incredibly frustrated by GnomePrint. Never mind, Nigella was on TV later and I grabbed loads of Cat Power MP3s - a reasonable day.

Preliminary course materials for T171 arrive. Mainly a bunch of "How to use Windows 95" stuff. After playing with the various things they expect of us students I don't think there is anything I can't do with my 'non-standard' operating system! Decided best start on Gtkdial 0.3 was to clean up the code. Now trudging through the spaghetti I've been routinely generating and trying to make sure I've not broken anything... Busy afternoon running errands, which was actually fun - time pressure having not been much of a factor in life here lately.

Took Pix to the vet again for her injections, and then treated her for fleas and coaxed her into taking her worming tablet. Hence the mood was somewhat surly here this morning! Released Gtkdial 0.2.23 which sees the completion of development on the 0.2.x code branch! Its gone from a dodgy Perl prototype, to an equally dodgy GTK/GNOME application, but amazingly still does what I originally meant it to! So tomorrow, work starts on 0.3.... Welsman Massive once again venture down to Weston for "Winterval" celebrations, including a bhangratastic rendition of "In A Gadda Da Vida" at the Curry Garden!

I've had a home on the web for more years than I care to remember, and a few kind souls persuade me it's worth persisting with keeping it updated. This current incarnation of the site is centred around the blog posts which began back in 1999 as 'the daylog' and continued through my travels and tribulations during the following years.

I don't get out and about nearly as much these days, but I do try to record significant events and trips for posterity. You may also have arrived here by following the trail to my former music blog Songs Heard On Fast Trains. That content is preserved here too.
