Busy weekend - yesterday was mainly spent in various pubs both urban and rural (Happy Birthday Becky!). Today I went to the Tate Modern. Absolutely fantastic - an overwhelmingly big space, but plenty going on. Hard on the feet however. Managed to get the now customary telling off courtesy of Virgin Trains, but this time it wasn't my fault! Working through Kernighan & Ritchie, which is actually a pleasure to read despite my fears.

Went to the Bristol Balloon Fiesta Nightglow last night. Pretty amazing really, I'd only ever seen it on TV before and that really doesn't do it justice. Read Larry Wall's announcement of Perl 6, and all the associated follow-up about what will (and won't) be part of it. Started reading Pan to read news a couple of days ago - so far so good.

Half day at home doing more NVQ stuff. Actually, if I put my mind to it, it could all be over very soon! Having spent quite a while messing around with Apple Mac G3 and an iBook lately, almost convinced myself I wanted to buy one! I'll stick to a Mac-ish Sawfish theme for now perhaps. Almost time to divide this page up again.

Another highly strange weekend over. Going back to work seems very weird indeed. Life with Evolution is OK so far - some random crashes, but pretty usable. Ploughing through Wrox Press's "Beginning Linux Programming" which (so far at least) is making sense.

I've had a home on the web for more years than I care to remember, and a few kind souls persuade me it's worth persisting with keeping it updated. This current incarnation of the site is centred around the blog posts which began back in 1999 as 'the daylog' and continued through my travels and tribulations during the following years.

I don't get out and about nearly as much these days, but I do try to record significant events and trips for posterity. You may also have arrived here by following the trail to my former music blog Songs Heard On Fast Trains. That content is preserved here too.
